Searching for a mentor
If you need support in preparing a project proposal you should start by finding a mentor in the mentors database.
Selecting Mentors leads to a screen for a simple mentor search. This search is limited to a text field (1) and filters (2).
In the text field, you can enter a query according to the syntax of the UKB system's query language (cf. Search Modes), in the simplest case in the form of a string of terms expected in the mentor’s record (in any field of the scientist's description and in the sub-record of the offer.
Filters, on the other hand, can additionally be used to limit the result. These filters are specific to the mentor offering:
Mentor's experience as a reviewer (YES/NO)
Types of projects - this is a request for what types of projects the mentor is offering mentoring for
Areas of expertise
Research areas
You can also limit the list of mentors to a specific unit of the university, such as mentors from the Department of Materials Engineering.
Notes:
When searching by project type, only leaves in the tree can be selected. If several leaves are selected, the system combines the corresponding project types with the Boolean function OR
When searching by area of expertise, you can choose whether the selected therms are to be connected by an AND or OR operator, depending on your needs
