Countries and organizations

This authority file combines country names (ISO 3166-1) with some international organization names (3) and patent offices 10). This list is used in describing patents, activities and professional achievements, as well as for address data in institution records.

The administrator has the authority to add new countries and organizations to the database.

The country description includes, among other things, three types of codes: a 3-letter code, a 2-letter code, and a numeric country code according to the current ISO 3166-1 standard.
